Cougar Basketball 09-10

I'm a little behind with talking about BYU basketball, but I just want to say how awesome the team is going to be this year! I've been to the tipoff and the two exhibition games and I'm pumped for the home opener this Friday. The first game vs. Trinity Western was a little slow at the beginning, but they found their groove to win easily. Central Washington tonight was much better. They really cruised to this win.

The best part is that tonight, two freshman were in the starting lineup. Tyler Haws and Brandon Davies were amazing! It looks like they didn't miss a beat on their transition from high school to college. Brandon brings the aggression we need at the center and Tyler runs all over the place making his own shots out of nothing. The coaching staff is experimenting a little with the lineups so they can find the best combos once the season really gets going.

JT is looking improved and as good as ever, Jimmer is just good (what else is new...), Charles did a lot of work in the off-season that I think will really help him as the season goes on. The captains are Lamont and Jackson, who are great leaders by example as well as what they show on the court. Mike Loyd really used his redshirt year to improve, and SLCC transfer Logan Magnusson can fill in at the wing whenever needed. All in all this is and extremely deep team and that has an extremely high value, especially for the conference season.
